"Interest in the sweet, string-laden sounds of late 60s pop has been higher than ever recently. Compilations such as the Fading Yellow series and Bob Stanley's “Tea & Symphony” have raised awareness of an entire strata of lost pop gems that inhabit a previously unmarketable netherworld somewhere between soft pop, folk and bubblegum; enter John Bromley!
Bromley came up through a series of unsuccessful harmony bands before scoring a couple of hits as a songwriter: 'Come On Down' for Jackie DeShannon and 'Tomorrow, Manana' for a plethora of acts. John was signed by hit writer Graham Dee on the strength of his song 'What A Woman Does' and then recorded a series of high-quality demos and masters, some of which made up his 1969 album Sing.
The album boasts a broad range of styles from ornate, baroque ballads to tough, psychedelic rockers aimed to capitalise on John's innate commercial songwriting ability. Think Tony Hazzard Sings Tony Hazzard with more bells and whistles."
