"This album brings together all his Buddah and Arista hits on one CD for the first time.
There are very few artists who can claim to have introduced the 70s Soul world to so many accomplished vocalists as drummer Norman Connors. He launched the careers of Michael Henderson, Jean Carn, Phyllis Hyman, Eleanor Mills, Dee Dee Bridgewater and many others.
Connors first recording was on Archie Shepp’s 1967 album “Magic Of Juju” and he also worked with John Coltrane, Miles Davis and most notably Pharoah Saunders with whom he recorded five albums. Stellar musicians like Herbie Hancock, Gary Bartz, Eddie Henderson and Stanley Clarke all worked with him and featured on various albums. Between 1974 and 1976 he introduced such remarkable vocalists as the late Phyllis Hyman, Jean Carn and Michael Henderson. Impressed by the unique talent of Phyllis Hyman, he signed her up for the “You Are My Starship” album and picked Jean Carn, another jazz orientated singer, to duet with Henderson on the now classic ‘Valentine Love’ in 1976."
